The Minister of Petroleum discusses enhancing joint cooperation with El Sewedy Electric

Engineer Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, discussed with Engineer Ahmed El Sewedy, CEO and Managing Director of El Sewedy Electric, and the accompanying delegation, ways to enhance joint cooperation in mineral resources, petroleum, petrochemicals, and green energy activities.

During the meeting, Engineer Karim Badawi reviewed the six main axes of the Ministry’s work strategy, which include numerous investment opportunities in all petroleum activities and the promising mining sector. He noted that the decision to transform the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority into an economic authority under the name “Egyptian Mineral Resources and Mining Industries Authority” represents a strong start, enhancing the Authority’s ability to work efficiently with the government and investors, contributing to attracting foreign and local investment to the mining sector, and working to make Egypt a regional center for complementary mining industries, thus achieving added value for both Egypt’s mineral resources and the raw mineral resources of African countries. In this regard, Badawi emphasized that the Ministry welcomes private sector participation in these areas, which serve the interests of all parties.

For his part, Engineer Ahmed El Sewedy expressed the group’s desire to invest in mineral resources, such as phosphate and kaolin, by establishing transformational industries that add value to these resources. He noted that the El Sewedy Group operates in more than 40 countries and has a genuine desire to increase its investments in Egypt in mining, green energy, research and exploration services, and the petrochemical industry.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Samir Raslan, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Exploration and Agreements; Yasser Ramadan, Geologist and Chairman of the Egyptian Mineral Resources Authority; and Dr. Mohamed Radwan, Director of the Egypt Digital Exploration Portal and Vice Chairman of the South Valley Egyptian Petroleum Holding Company for Agreements and Exploration.
