The Minister of Aviation meets with the head of the Consumer Protection Agency to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two sides

Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, received Dr. Ibrahim El-Segini, Head of the Consumer Protection Agency, at the Ministry of Civil Aviation headquarters. The meeting discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the two sides, reflecting the state’s efforts to develop services provided at Egyptian airports.

During the meeting, the importance of providing an integrated service environment within airports was emphasized, reflecting Egypt’s civilized image and supporting the state’s vision to enhance the quality of services provided to citizens and tourists alike.

The two sides discussed mechanisms for developing a system for receiving passenger and tourist complaints. The pilot will begin at Cairo International Airport, with a view to gradually expanding it to other Egyptian airports.

In this context, Dr. Sameh El-Hefny, Minister of Civil Aviation, emphasized that cooperation with the Consumer Protection Agency is an important step toward developing the passenger rights system and enhancing confidence in the services provided to them. He noted that joint coordination and integration between state institutions contributes to establishing the principles of transparency and effective response to passenger feedback, in line with the state’s aspirations to provide a comprehensive travel experience for tourists and visitors.

For his part, Dr. Ibrahim El-Segini explained that there is ongoing coordination with the Ministry of Civil Aviation to study the activation of a service for receiving complaints and reports from travelers in English via the Consumer Protection Agency’s hotline (19588). They are also studying the possibility of making the same service available through the agency’s mobile application, which would facilitate communication with foreign tourists and strengthen the consumer protection system within Egyptian airports.

El-Segini also emphasized that cooperation between the two sides also includes working to spread the culture of consumer protection among tourists by providing informational and guidance materials within airports and tourist sites, informing visitors of their rights and clarifying communication mechanisms with the relevant authorities.
