Mogo Fully Automates Credit Policy with Synapse Analytics in Five Months

Mogo, an Egypt-based consumer finance company, has fully automated its credit decisioning process in partnership with Synapse Analytics, an agentic decisioning platform for regulated financial institutions. Mogo digitized its proprietary risk scorecard and credit policy on the Synapse Analytics platform without compromising its underlying risk logic. The system went live within five months of contract execution, enabling Mogo to accelerate decisioning speed and handle expanding application volumes.

In Egypt’s competitive consumer finance landscape, friction and processing delays often result in customer drop-off. As Mogo continues to scale, the company needed to accelerate decision-making while maintaining strict credit standards to safeguard its portfolio.

While Mogo had previously developed an advanced risk scorecard and detailed credit policies, its rules, risk thresholds, and scorecard outputs operated in silos. Synapse Analytics unified these elements into a single automated decision flow. The platform adapted seamlessly to Mogo’s established policy, allowing Mogo’s risk team to maintain complete ownership of its scorecards and rules.

The full automation provides Mogo with three core operational advantages:

Accelerated Speed: Delivers faster credit decisions for applicants.

Enhanced Consistency: Reduces manual steps between decision stages and applies uniform credit criteria across all incoming applications.

Seamless Scalability: Expands capacity to handle rising application volumes without diluting risk standards.

“Automating our credit policy is a crucial milestone in strengthening our ability to deliver a seamless financing experience while adhering to rigorous credit standards,” said Mahmoud El-Ghawas, CEO of Mogo. “Our partnership with Synapse Analytics allowed us to fully automate our existing policy within five months, establishing a scalable foundation that supports our growth without compromising our risk posture.”

Ahmed Abaza, Co-Founder and CEO of Synapse Analytics, said:

“Mogo’s credit team had already built a strong policy framework and well-defined workflows. Our role was to turn that foundation into a living decision system, designed to evolve as the institution learns from each decision. This makes credit policy more than a set of rules: it becomes an intellectual property asset that grows in value over time.”

Ahmed Abaza added:

“Our mission is to give financial institutions the intelligence and decision infrastructure to make faster, more secure decisions, reduce risk, unlock growth and build stronger customer relationships. That means making frontier AI accessible while protecting sensitive data and preserving ownership of their proprietary knowledge by owning that intelligence layer. AI should expand what financial institutions can do, not force them to give up control.”

Synapse Analytics’ AI-powered platform enables risk teams to independently build, test and deploy their credit policies and rules. The platform allows financial institutions to backtest policy changes on historical application data prior to deployment, maintains complete audit trails with version rollback capabilities, and can be deployed on-premise, in private, public or sovereign cloud.
